Mediation Services

Used in a wide range of civil litigation cases, mediation is a voluntary, out-of-court settlement negotiation that is facilitated by a neutral, third-party mediator.

The types of civil cases that reach a settlement through mediation can range from family law disputes to contact business disagreements and personal injury cases, to name only a few. Because it is a faster, more efficient and less costly way of reaching a settlement, mediation is used more and more today in civil litigation.

Marc C. Mayfield, a Mayfield Weedon, L.L.P. founding partner, is a credentialed mediator, helping litigating parties reach amicable resolutions and avoid costly trials.

If you are involved in a dispute that could be handled by an impartial, third-party mediator, contact us or call (903) 757-9600 to schedule a consultation on how we can mediate your case and help you reach a trial-free, mutually agreeable settlement.

Mediation Resources

  • Controlled - Each party has complete decision-making power and the right to veto any provision of a mediated agreement. Nothing can be imposed on either party.
  • Confidential - Mediation discussions and materials are not admissible in any subsequent court or legally contested proceedings, except for a finalized mediation agreement that is signed by both parties.
  • Impartial - The mediator has an equal and balanced responsibility to assist each mediating party and cannot favor the interests of any one party over another.
